Bring On The Fall

I’m serious. I know that Mrs. B and I don’t share passion for the same seasons, but we are passionate in many other ways (I mean sexually and in the ways of steak), so it doesn’t really matter about all of that getting colder/warmer bullshit.

She loves the summer and the heat. I sweat like a rapist in a Walmart parking lot when it hits 26C/80F. Yes, I said that as a joke, and also as a dig at Walmart for not taking the proper security measures when it comes to the safety of it’s patrons.

I, on the other hand, enjoy a more temperate clime than the Caribbean, so autumn or spring are ideal for myself. I wish it weren’t so, but it is, and we just have to deal with it.

Another thing we had to deal with is the last long weekend of the summer.

We lucked out, and Mrs. Birdman only had to work until early afternoon on the Saturday, so Mr. Brady and I took off early to get a start on the weekend. We got to the camp at about 10 or 11 in the morning, and I suppose we started drinking as soon as we pulled the cooler out of the truck. Blue took off for a hunt as soon as he heard the beers being opened, because he knows he’s going to start getting blamed for things like shitting on the floor of the outhouse or pissing in the barbeque.

After we got some things set up, we went scouting around in the woods for an adventure. We didn’t find it, but we did manage to shred our legs up pretty good on the raspberry canes that were littering all of the trails we were blazing.

When our womenfolk finally showed up, we played around with getting the generator running, and after several failed attempts, we Googled that shit. Within five minutes we were up and running, and with a joint effort between Mr. Brady and Mrs. B, we were feasting on steak, fresh veggies and baked potatoes. There was also a side of fried mushrooms and onions, and they were awesome. Portobellos and white mixed in together give it that little extra to push an already good thing into greatness. We drank until quite late at night, and it was odd, but I went to bed with a pounding hangover headache. I guess maybe I was dehydrated, but I thought that the few margaritas that I had would have replenished my missing electrolytes that the beer had leeched from my system.

The photography started the next day, so I guess we’ll get to that part of the story.

This is where we went to freshen up and enjoy some sunshine. I obviously am showing Mr. Brady what the treetops are like up north.

So that was the long weekend, huh?

I don’t even remember when it started.

I guess it was Friday that I rented a little excavator to run some drainage ditches through the backyard and dig the holes for the sonotubes to put the deck on.

Cute, huh?

I started as soon as I got home, because my sweet baby was going to Preston Springs with Gadget, Penny, Beaner, and Stanley. I worked until dark, then grilled a couple of steaks that we were going to eat the day before, but didn’t quite get around to. Blue kept me company for awhile, then decided that he was going to shred the garbage in the bedroom while I was blogginggoing through Google+ to find funny and awesome things to share with the Facebook page. I’ve figured out some really cool ways to get more action on the blog’s page, and it’s even brought a few more “likers” there as well. Continue reading

What a Happy Canada Day Weekend

Yes, it most certainly was.

We headed down to Hastings on Friday night for a visit with Gadget, Penny, Juice, Armando, and a herd of others that have no code names. There was beer and margaritas, Dr. Pepper and whiskey, and a stolen golf cart, but at least no one got hurt.

Sometimes the booze is so good, he looks like this.

Blue came along for the ride, and was surprisingly good. Well, good for Blue. He didn’t bark too much, and he provided a lot of entertainment as we would get drunk and watch him run to the end of the line and then look confused as to why he can’t go any further. It would be nice if we could let him run free, but he’d be like Yogi Bear with the picnic baskets, except for not as smart and he would probably just shred up the garbage and leave the food there. We Got The Grass Cut

At the cabin. Don’t worry, the grass at home is still as long as ever.

He’s so much like Paul.

My brother Larry and I went up last weekend and spent the night. It was good, but it was weird not having Paul there. He is ingrained into every part of that cabin, from the furniture, to the homemade mousetraps, so it was kind of like he was there, but not the same.

It was his favourite place, that I know of. Continue reading

The Fishing Hole – Part 1

Yep, trout season open last weekend, so Scooter and I let it settle down for a week, and then booked it for the woods to enjoy nature at it’s finest. There has been a bunch of beatings down at the creek, but I don’t think anyone is going to mess with us. If you’ve seen Scooter, you’ll know why.

I think there's a good spot to set up camp over here somewhere.

Oh yeah, there it is, and there's no one else around. Sweet!

Yup, this is awesome. Time to relax and enjoy life. A guy can't sit around looking mean ALL the time.
