Yep, Fox has said I could give a Bluray of Wilfred away to coincide with it’s release on DVD and Bluray later on in June. It’s open to people in Canada and the US, and they will ship it right to your door. If you have one. If not, it will come to wherever you tell them to send it.
When they got in contact with me I was all like, “I wonder what Wilfred is? Must be a mini-series about the life of Wilfred Brimley.” Then I remembered that he spells it “Wilford”. I looked it up on Wikipedia and thought it looked pretty cool, so I started watching season 1 online.
It’s fucking hilarious. Check out this 30 second clip. It doesn’t show the whole pelican scene, but you kind of get the gist. The dark humour is fantastic, and Frodo’s timing is bang on, as is that of Jason Gann, who plays Wilfred.
I seriously get short of breath, laughing at some of this show. It’s not for everyone, but if you don’t mind potty, drug, and sex humour, you should really enjoy this. I would watch season one while they are mailing this one to you. You’ll be happy you did.
Last week I did a giveaway for a couple of copies of this movie. I hadn’t received my review copy, so I was just giving them away blindly. I have since gotten a hold of a copy and watched it.
I really hope your kids are quite young. If they are, then you will probably be okay. Kids that are younger than around 5 or 6 might not understand second-rate animation, how badly the voice actors were cast, and they may just be able to enjoy it for the funny looking animals and the very basic plot. I took the time on April 20th 🙂 to watch Cheech And Chong’s Animated Movie. Even though I was sick as a dog, I took an extra shot of Nyquil and settled in for 83 minutes of fart and weed jokes. I want to be able to tell you that it was filled with amazing wit and animation, but that would be less than truthful.
The licence plate says MUF DVR, in the movie.
I was expecting it to be fucking hilarious, because I had watched and loved all of their movies back in the 80s, but it wasn’t really comparable. It turns out that this was just old album material that has been rudimentarily animated and put out for public consumption. Continue reading →
You know what? Fuck you, Fox. Why’d you have to make me get all weepy with this feel-good comedy about grandparents struggling to be a relevant part of their grandkid’s lives? I’m just kidding. I like getting all nostalgic and emotional. It’s cleanses my essence, and we all know how dirty that is.
Put a comment on this post and win this movie. Maybe. If you’re the only comment you will.
Now I’m going to do something I’ve never done. I’m going to tell you that this was a very heartwarming flick, and that I really did enjoy watching it. I’m also going to leave it at that and copy some of the press release in here to tell you about the movie, and urge you to watch it. Especially if you are one of my generation. You know, with parents who got pregnant in their early 20’s or late teens, and just raised you as best they could with what they had. No baby monitors, Google, or car seats for that matter. Just instinct, homemade wine, and guts. By guts I mean threatening and sometimes having to follow through when you call their bluff. Continue reading →
This will go to a random commenter. If nobody comments, then I guess it stays with me! Oh, there’s a DVD in there too.
Luckily for me, I don’t need to find out how many pans I’m allowed before I get cut off. Well not yet, anyhow. This little short was gratifying to say the least. I really got a kick out of it and watched it twice, because I wanted to make sure I caught the whole thing. All 22 minutes of it. Continue reading →
