Gene Simmons, Prince, And Media Bullshit

Birdman

First off, I understand that I am media. I just don’t really count my thirty eight subscribers as a media audience to be reckoned with. For the record, you could be number thirty nine if you click the subscribe button in the top left sidebar. It’s just a thought. A really good thought.

Don’t get me wrong, you are all awesome, even if some of you have died and others have been incarcerated, but I just don’t think that what I do here counts for much out there in the real world of media.

So now onto the horrible Gene Simmons and the saintly Prince, whom Gene has so wrongfully smote1)smitten? with his words.

Now I have never been a soldier in the KISS Army, but I have owned several of their [easyazon_link identifier=”B000001EU2″ locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]cassettes[/easyazon_link], [easyazon_link identifier=”B000001EL3″ locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]CDs[/easyazon_link], and their Oscar worthy KISS eXposed.

[easyazon_image align=”none” height=”500″ identifier=”B009QWIRBM” locale=”US” src=”http://changethetopic.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/51qzEsVNE2L.jpg” tag=”granligh-20″ width=”354″]

I always found them entertaining and intelligent, but never really cared too much about what they had to say concerning anything. They are rock stars and smart businessmen. End of story.

Well, until I saw all kinds of headlines about Gene Simmons and his comments about Prince and drugs. Shit like, but not limited to:

GENE SIMMONS: DAVID BOWIE’S DEATH WAS TRAGIC, PRINCE’S WAS PATHETIC

newsweek.com

Gene Simmons calls Prince’s death ‘pathetic’

ew.com

Gene Simmons on Prince: ‘How Pathetic That He Killed Himself’

rollingstone.com

That’s just three of them, but you get the picture. This all comes from the newsweek.com interview with Gene Simmons where he said things like, but not limited to:

“I think Prince was heads, hands and feet above all the rest of them. I thought he left [Michael] Jackson in the dust. Prince was way beyond that. But how pathetic that he killed himself. Don’t kid yourself, that’s what he did. Slowly, I’ll grant you… but that’s what drugs and alcohol is: a slow death.”

and

“Bowie was the most tragic of all because it was real sickness,” Simmons tells Newsweek. “All the other ones were a choice.” Even Prince? “His drugs killed him. What do you think, he died from a cold?”

and

The one question I have is: When we all start out and we have these big dreams and you finally get your wish—you have more money than God and fame—what is that insane gene in us, well, a lot of us, that makes us want to succumb to the cliché of clichés: drugs and alcohol?

You get the picture, right? I want to throw this in for you to ruminate on.

gene04

I have no idea if this is how he meant it, but he’s a smart guy. I would imagine he understands pathos.

Now, I don’t think that he’s 100% correct in most of this, but come on. It’s Gene Simmons’ fucking opinion. He’s allowed to have one, and so are you, but nobody should give a shit about either of them. Who cares what anybody thinks about Prince’s death? He’s gone, and left a shitload of great music for us to enjoy until we succumb to whatever the fuck kills us too.

(In my opinion, this is his greatest hits CD)

The thing that bothered me the most about all of this shit was the headlines. They were only made to get a rise out of everyone. Just to get clicks. Plain and simple.

Now, I am not above trying to sneak a link in here and hope someone buys something from Amazon through the site, but I have never been able to skew things to try and get people to click on my posts because I am playing with their emotions. I could have named this post something like “Gene Simmons Is Celebrating. Prince Is Dead”

Probably would have got a lot of folks in here with something like that, but I couldn’t do it with a clear conscience. How can reputable media outlets like Newsweek and Rolling Stone do it? They know the context in which it was said, so why would they try and trap a bunch of idiots with a misleading headline?

I have an idea.

Guess where these came from?

I'll give you a hint. It isn't from Google+

I’ll give you a hint. It isn’t from Google+.

Or Twitter, but those fuckers are just as bad now.

Or Twitter, but those fuckers are just as bad now. P.S. Fuck Nikki Sixx

Definitely not LinkedIn.

Definitely not LinkedIn.

If you guessed Facebook, you are the wiener.

This shit is just perfect for the clicky, emotional hordes on the old FB.

Gene Simmons said what? Fuck him and his stupid pornstar wife. Who made him God? I hope he ODs on valiums. Fucking asshole.2)Tidbits of things I saw when I looked at FB

BTW, nobody made him God. If they did there would be proof that he exists, and we know that ain’t happening yet. 😉

Anyhow, quit clicking on things that make you mad, unless you are going to actually read everything before you share it and comment. You will save yourself a lot of people calling you an idiot under their breath. Unless your friends are just as dumb. If that’s the case, click and share as much as possible. You’ll be the most smartest one on the block, and everyone will follow your lead.

Sumofus.org And All The Rapist Pilots At WestJet

Birdman

You can install the sarcasm font on that title and most of my words in this post.

Maybe.

I recently received an email from Emma Pullman at SumOfUs.org. This is how it started:

sumofus01

Holy shit! That’s horrible. Up to dozens of women? This guy sounds like a monster.

It’s no secret that WestJet is my favourite airline, so this was especially troubling to me.

It continued:

sumofus02

Good for her. Those bastards need to pay. Wait a second. They are literally in the business of safety? I think we need to define what the word “literally” means. I think that they are literally in the business of transportation and serving delicious[easyazon_link identifier=”B0044TP0Y4″ locale=”US” nw=”y” nf=”y” tag=”granligh-20″ cart=”n” cloak=”y” localize=”y” popups=”y”]cookie tubes[/easyazon_link] with my [easyazon_link identifier=”B000R9AL1M” locale=”US” nw=”y” nf=”y” tag=”granligh-20″ cart=”n” cloak=”y” localize=”y” popups=”y”]club soda[/easyazon_link]. I know safety is a part of their business, but it is also a part of every business. A construction company can safely build twelve skyscrapers, but I don’t think you’d say they were in the safety business. Anyhow, I’m nitpicking. Let’s continue with the persecution of the dirty rapists and their protectors.

sumofus03

Cough* [easyazon_link identifier=”B000002IXP” locale=”US” nw=”y” nf=”y” tag=”granligh-20″ cart=”n” cloak=”y” localize=”y” popups=”y”]Jian Ghomeshi[/easyazon_link]* Cough

That’s right, they are a public company, and they do care what people think. I know from all of the times they responded to my tweets. Maybe that Saretsky guy should step down if he is just allowing up to dozens of women to get raped by this pilot. That’s a horrible person to protect, even if it’s his brother.1)I highly doubt it’s his brother I don’t understand why he’s doing this dastardly deed, because he seems like a great guy, judging from his blurbs in the in-flight magazine.

sumofus04

OMG, they’re celebrating their 20th anniversary already. They are definitely more vulnerable because of that. My friend was celebrating his 20th anniversary and while he was at dinner he caught his wife behind a dumpster with the waiter and a pastry chef that had a neck tattoo. We should attack WestJet now, while they are feeling all [easyazon_link identifier=”0142181072″ locale=”US” nw=”y” nf=”y” tag=”granligh-20″ cart=”n” cloak=”y” localize=”y” popups=”y”]emotional[/easyazon_link] and shit.

There is a whole other part of the email containing news and links to external news sources like The Globe and Mail and please send us $3, but that doesn’t matter, does it? I mean that we are thirsty for blood, after reading about this rapey pilot. Right?

Well, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to have a skim through the Globe And Mail story.

Here’s a part that I found interesting:

sumofus05

First of all, NO means NO!

Period.

I am not by any means condoning the pilot’s alleged behaviour, but she should also know to leave a party when the party is over. Especially when the pilot is drunk. Drunk people have poor judgement as a rule, but especially if they are of poor character as well.

Second of all, why only report it to a coworker the following day? Why not call the police, or at least a manager right after it happened? That had to be traumatizing, and would keep you up all night, I’m sure. Wouldn’t you want to immediately have this documented as a criminal act? I know I would, but I’m not a 24 year old woman in a foreign country, so I may be out to lunch on the subject.

sumofus06

Wait a minute. That says “None of the allegations has been proven in court.”

But SumOfUs.org emailed me and said that it did happen. Why would a so called “international consumer watchdog” send out a petition to force the resignation of a company CEO over unproven allegations? That seems completely slanderous and illegal, because there hasn’t even been a court hearing yet.

Don’t get me wrong. If he did these things, I hope he gets to spend a few years with a [easyazon_link identifier=”B010MR7F6W” locale=”US” nw=”y” nf=”y” tag=”granligh-20″ cart=”n” cloak=”y” localize=”y” popups=”y”]horny roommate named Big Jim[/easyazon_link], but whether he did or didn’t do it is not for Emma Pullman at SumOfUs to decide. It is for WestJet, and ultimately, a court of law to exact the judgement and punishment in this case.

As for the CEO of WestJet, I would hope that if it’s true that he knew an employee was raping and assaulting coworkers and then helped to cover it up so that said employee could go on raping and pillaging staff, he will discover a fate that is far worse than losing his cushy job. I’m thinking that maybe Big Jim would have enough love in his heart for two roommates.

Of course, if it turns out that it isn’t true, maybe I’ll start a petition company to force Emma Pullman to resign from SumOfUs.org.

What’s [easyazon_link identifier=”B00H9GPYNG” locale=”US” nw=”y” nf=”y” tag=”granligh-20″ cart=”n” cloak=”y” localize=”y” popups=”y”]good for the goose[/easyazon_link], is good for the gander, right?

Birdman

P.S. You guys know that this is in no way a question of the accuser’s honesty, right? I’m not trying to make light of sexual assault in any way. I’m just trying to get the point across that until you know something is a fact, that you shouldn’t claim it’s so. Kind of like deities.

God Is Great, Grief Is Good, And Injuns Are Crazy

Originally published December 17th, 2012

I’ve had a lot of things on my mind since last week. Newtown was one of them.

Yep, I’m taking the cheap post. I told myself that I wasn’t going to glorify it by even mentioning the occurrence, but it won’t leave me alone, so here we are.

The day after the killing, a friend of mine put this photo up on Facebook with the note: “Well said.”

397171_525227097500893_1486481420_n

This was all it took. Hey, I’m not saying I don’t have issues.

Yep, that was all it was. I really like the guy, too, but at that moment I was just sickened by this shitty message. I didn’t even think about it. I copied it, then pasted it into the blog’s page with a caption about how disgusted I was with it. I then went and deleted him as a friend, because I couldn’t believe he would be so callous as to put this up after such a horrible tragedy. I’m a huge advocate of “If you don’t like me, delete me”, as opposed to I’m going to tell you how wrong you are, because you don’t share my views. Continue reading

It’s Not All About Religion (But It Kind Of Is)

Birdman

As I was scrolling through Google+ this morning I saw some posts by women that are supporting Donald Trump.

That’s the punchline, folks

I can understand the ignorant, white trash, racist males, and possibly the mentally challenged, but I just thought that ladies were brighter than that.

I really wish that everyone was smarter than guacamole, but if we were, people like that would never have had the opportunity to make it into a political party, let alone lead the polls. I am not sure what led to the overall dumbing down of our society, but whatever it is, it needs to change.

I look at people like Sarah and Bristol Palin, who a lot of women seem to genuinely look up to, and I wonder how that came about. It truly shocks me when I think about it.

Take Bristol, for instance. She had a baby out of wedlock, while the whole Palin clan preached family values and the Bible. After the baby was born, she split up with Levi Johnson and became a spokesperson for abstinence. Now she has had another baby out of wedlock and split up with the father of that one as well.

Two babies with two different daddies while preaching the bible and abstinence to the masses should not be a catalyst to fame and fortune via book deals, movie deals, and speaking engagements. She is getting between $15000-$30000 per speaking engagement and I believe $262000 for her work at Candie’s Foundation. None of this is counting her blogging, TV and movie earnings, book deals, or the $380 she made from selling weed behind the Qwikee Mart.1)That last part is a joke that started as her giving handjobs, but I figured I should change it to something that is less likely, in case of a lawsuit, you see.

I guess I am getting off topic.

What it is that women are looking for in their life?

It seems possible that they like oppression, misogyny, and lower wages. At least some of them do. How else can you explain women that vote Republican, and moreover, women who vote Trump?

I’m not saying that men should vote for him either, but at least men have a bit more to gain in the end. Not that I think any actual people would benefit from Trump being the President, but if anyone will, the large majority of them will be men.

Which brings me to religion and how it is still brainwashing women into believing that men are the stronger, smarter, more dominant sex.

2)I know that this book is written from a Christian standpoint, but I think that the fact he condemns the horrible treatment of women in the name of any religion a giant leap, plus he left the Southern Baptist Convention because they outlawed any women holding title in the organisation. His wife and himself had been members since their birth, I believe.

You can’t tell me that the societal norms of today aren’t directly affected by the Bible. I believe that given an equal playing field, women would dominate men in almost every aspect of life. I know that we will still take the blue ribbon in pissing contests (distance only) and maybe any food eating contest, because who would think that eating 69 hot dogs is a good idea, other than a man?

No, I am quite certain that the Bible was written to keep certain demographics in a desired place in the hierarchy, and unless you were one of god’s chosen men, or the mother of little baby Jesus, you were destined to be ruled by another.

What kind of god would want only some of his children to profit off the backs of the others?

Women, get your heads out of your asses and live up to your potential.

Anyhow, that’s how I feel about that.

Slip Slidin’ Away

birdmandesk

So after a couple of peaceful days, I was starting to get calmed down. We let the dogs out before bed and then drifted off into a peaceful dreamland.

Until 11:40. That’s when Blue started pacing. I woke up instantly and ran him outside before he started pissing in the bedroom. After letting him back in, we got back into bed and drifted off again.

Until 12:45. That’s when the retching started. Luckily I caught it before there was enough saliva to soak through the [easyazon_link identifier=”B00Q7OB4EE” locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]sheet[/easyazon_link] into the [easyazon_link identifier=”B004LQ1RJ2″ locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]mattress[/easyazon_link]. I ran him outside and waited for a few minutes, in nothing but my [easyazon_link identifier=”B00ACIGNJW” locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]underwear[/easyazon_link], until he was whining to get back in. I figured that I would put him on the couch, as we just got new bedding that day, and didn’t want it soaked with puke.

As I was walking back to the bedroom I heard the retching again and bolted for the living room to see him with his back arched and mouth wide open. I called for him to come, but he was indisposed, so I picked him up and started running for the hall with him convulsing against my chest.

I thought I was home free until my feet shot out from underneath me and I went backwards, bouncing my head off of the [easyazon_link identifier=”B00TD0N6EU” locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]maple[/easyazon_link] [easyazon_link identifier=”B0042K14EA” locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]dresser[/easyazon_link] that the [easyazon_link identifier=”B00V0923TG” locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]TV[/easyazon_link] sits on as the dog flew forward down the hall. When I came to, he had just finished upchucking what was left in the middle of the floor. I got up and slipped again falling in front of the door with Dover barking behind it. I think he smelled all of the food on the other side, but was upset that he couldn’t eat it. I let Blue outside and started cleaning the walls and floor with a [easyazon_link identifier=”B002S52ZKS” locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]bath towel[/easyazon_link] that was in the [easyazon_link identifier=”B0041RRPII” locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]dirty clothes[/easyazon_link]. I went outside and shook the moist [easyazon_link identifier=”B008RKA690″ locale=”CA” tag=”chathetop0f-20″]kibble[/easyazon_link] out off the deck and went back to get the [easyazon_link identifier=”B00FF5J0G0″ locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]cleaner[/easyazon_link] and some [easyazon_link identifier=”B00BGN8PLG” locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]paper towels[/easyazon_link] to get the rest of the grossness off of everything. After twenty minutes of scrubbing with a splitting headache and what I thought was a broken foot, I let Blue back in and went to the shower to get the mashed nuggets and drying grasses out of my hair and skin.

I crawled into bed at 1:15 to a sleeping wife, who woke up and asked why I showered again. I started to explain, but she was quickly out like a light.

Fast forward to about 7:45 when I heard a shriek. “DOVER PEED ON MY [easyazon_link identifier=”B00746W9F2″ locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]IPAD[/easyazon_link].”

It figures. Par for the course. Needless to say, I was at the lady’s house where I got Dover’s [easyazon_link identifier=”B00D6XQEAI” locale=”US” tag=”granligh-20″]kennel[/easyazon_link] and bought the bigger one for Blue. They will be learning to enjoy sleeping next to each other in the living room from now on.
